Chefchaouen Blue City Tours — indigo-washed lanes of the blue medina

The atelier

A small Chefchaouen house, designing private blue-city trips.

We're a Chefchaouen-based travel atelier that designs and operates every trip itself — no marketplaces, no resellers. Eight people on the ground in the blue city and the Rif, one phone number, and a list of returning clients we are quietly proud of.

Our story · in plain language

We started with one stubborn idea.

Operate the trip ourselves rather than resell other people's. Walk every guesthouse the night before you arrive, pay every supplier directly, hire guides we know personally from the medina and the Rif, write every itinerary by hand — then charge a transparent fee on top of the real cost.

We stay deliberately small. We take a limited number of private tours a year, many of them returning families and friends-of-friends. We are slow to scale and fast to answer the phone.

"If we wouldn't send our own mother to that guesthouse next Tuesday, we don't put it in your itinerary. That's the whole standard."
— Hicham, co-founder

What we believe

Four convictions, in plain language.

These aren't marketing lines. They are the four arguments we have had repeatedly inside the atelier — and the answers we have settled on, after eleven years on the ground.

Operator, not marketplace

Every guide, driver and host we work with is on a direct contract with us. If something goes wrong on your trip, there is no third party to call — it is us, on the phone, within the hour.

One team, start to finish

The same person who answers your first message writes your itinerary and answers the phone on the trip. You do not pass through a call centre at any point.

Quietly responsible

Local Chaoui hosts, fair guide day-rates, low-impact trails through Talassemtane. We pay every supplier within days of invoice — not the months the industry normalises.

Honest pricing

Real ground costs plus a transparent atelier fee, itemised in every quote. No hidden margins, no commissioned upsells, no dynamic pricing surprises.

Eleven years on the ground

A short timeline, honestly told.

  1. 2014

    The atelier opens

Two founders, one little house off Outa el Hammam square, three returning clients from a previous life in hospitality. The idea: operate every trip ourselves rather than resell other people's.

  2. 2017

We hire our first guides in-house

We stop subcontracting guides. Six career mountain and medina guides join on full salary — the same six are still with us today.

  3. 2020

    The quiet years

Borders close. We keep our team on payroll, write guides nobody reads, and build the operations playbook we use now. We do not furlough a single person.

  4. 2023

    Talassemtane treks added

After three years of requests, we open multi-day routes into Talassemtane National Park and along the Akchour gorge — run directly, like everything else.

  5. 2026

    Still eight people

Many trips later, we are deliberately the same small size. Slow to scale, fast to answer the phone.

The direct difference

Why book with us, not a platform?

Online marketplaces are useful for browsing. We are useful for travelling. Here is the difference, in plain terms — because you deserve to know before you book.

One number, always answered

The eight of us

Small by design. Always.

Two designers, six guides — and a roster of drivers, mountain leaders, hosts and craftspeople on long-term retainer. The atelier deliberately doesn't grow past what we can hold in one WhatsApp thread.

The next journey starts with you.

A few lines about who you are, when you'd like to come, and what excites you — that is genuinely enough for us to write back with route options and a real, itemised quote within one working day.
