Overview
A half-day private walk through Chefchaouen's blue-washed medina with a local guide — the lanes, the kasbah square, the wool souk and the best photo corners away from the crowds.
Chefchaouen's medina is the most photographed in Morocco, but its story is far older than its colour: a 15th-century mountain refuge founded by Andalusian Muslims and Jews fleeing Spain, its lanes a tangle of Andalusian arches, fountains and tilework. Our local guide grew up in these streets and knows which corners hold the morning light, where the indigo is deepest, and which doorways are open to visitors.
This is a private, gentle walk at your pace. We start in Plaza Uta el-Hammam beneath the kasbah, wind up through the residential blue lanes, pause at the wool-washing channels and weavers' workshops, and finish with mint tea on a rooftop over the medina. Ideal as your first orientation in the Blue City.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
Is "The Blue Medina, On Foot" private or a group tour?
100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own driver-guide, vehicle and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.
Can I change the dates or itinerary?
Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Add the Akchour hike, swap a riad, change the start city — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.
How fit do I need to be?
Easy. Light walking on the blue medina's cobbled lanes, plus optional viewpoint climbs you can opt in or out of on the day.
When should I book a Chefchaouen tour?
For spring (Mar–May) and autumn (Sep–Oct), and any trip combining Tangier or Fes, book 4–8 weeks ahead. Last-minute (under 14 days) is usually still possible with a phone call.
When is the best time of day for the blue medina walk?
Early morning is magical — soft light, deep blue, and almost no day-trippers before 11:00. Late afternoon is the second-best window. We run the walk at 09:00 by default but can start at sunrise on request for photographers.
