Overview
A late-afternoon guided walk through Chefchaouen's souks and up to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint for the best sunset over the blue medina and the Rif mountains.
The Spanish Mosque sits on a hill across the valley from the medina — a short, easy climb that delivers the postcard view of Chefchaouen: the whole blue town cupped in the green Rif, glowing as the sun drops behind the mountains. It's the essential evening in the Blue City, and far better with a guide who paces the walk to arrive exactly at golden hour.
We start in the medina with a wander through the craft and wool souks — time to see the weavers, the leather and the famous woollen blankets — then walk up to the mosque (built by the Spanish in the 1920s, now a viewpoint) for the sunset. Your guide knows the best spot on the hillside, away from the busiest stretch, and we descend by torchlight as the medina lights come on.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
Is "Spanish Mosque Sunset & Souks" private or a group tour?
100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own driver-guide, vehicle and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.
Can I change the dates or itinerary?
Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Add the Akchour hike, swap a riad, change the start city — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.
How fit do I need to be?
Easy. Light walking on the blue medina's cobbled lanes, plus optional viewpoint climbs you can opt in or out of on the day.
When should I book a Chefchaouen tour?
For spring (Mar–May) and autumn (Sep–Oct), and any trip combining Tangier or Fes, book 4–8 weeks ahead. Last-minute (under 14 days) is usually still possible with a phone call.
How hard is the walk to the Spanish Mosque?
Easy — about 20 minutes uphill on a clear path from the medina edge. Most fitness levels manage it comfortably; we go at a relaxed pace to arrive in time for the sunset.
What time does the tour start?
We time the start to the season's sunset, typically around 17:00 so there's time for the souks before the golden-hour climb. We confirm the exact time when you book.
