Overview
A private sunrise photography tour of Chefchaouen with a guide who knows exactly where the blue is deepest and the light is best — the iconic stairways, doors and lanes, before the crowds.
Chefchaouen is a photographer's dream and a photographer's frustration: by mid-morning the famous blue stairways are packed and the light is flat. The solution is to be out before dawn. Our guide has photographed these lanes for years and walks you straight to the compositions you've seen online — the flower-pot stairways, the indigo doorways, the cat on the blue step — with the soft directional light of the first hour and almost nobody around.
This is a private, slow walk built around making images: we wait for the light, position you for each frame, and know which residents will allow a portrait and which rooftops catch the sunrise on the Rif. Suitable for phone photographers and serious cameras alike; maximum four people so the group never blocks a lane.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
Is "Chefchaouen Through the Lens" private or a group tour?
100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own driver-guide, vehicle and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.
Can I change the dates or itinerary?
Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Add the Akchour hike, swap a riad, change the start city — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.
How fit do I need to be?
Easy. Light walking on the blue medina's cobbled lanes, plus optional viewpoint climbs you can opt in or out of on the day.
When should I book a Chefchaouen tour?
For spring (Mar–May) and autumn (Sep–Oct), and any trip combining Tangier or Fes, book 4–8 weeks ahead. Last-minute (under 14 days) is usually still possible with a phone call.
Do I need a professional camera for the photography tour?
No — a modern smartphone gets superb results in Chefchaouen, especially at sunrise when the light does the work. We coach composition and timing whatever you shoot with, and welcome serious cameras too.
Why start at sunrise?
The blue lanes are empty and the light is soft and directional in the first hour. By mid-morning the famous stairways fill with day-trippers and the light goes flat. Sunrise is the single best window for photographs in the Blue City.
