Why Asilah
Forty minutes south of Tangier, Asilah is the prettiest small town on Morocco's northern coast and a natural pairing with the blue city — both are compact northern medinas built on colour. Where Chefchaouen washes its lanes in indigo, Asilah keeps its walls whitewashed and picks out the doors and shutters in cobalt blue, with bougainvillea and the Atlantic breaking against Portuguese ramparts. Each summer an arts festival covers the lanes with fresh murals, and the town stays calm and creative year-round. On a northern loop it slots in easily between Tangier and Chefchaouen.

Yes if you are in the north — it is the most charming small town on the coast, with Portuguese ramparts, a whitewashed-and-blue medina full of murals and a relaxed pace. It pairs perfectly with the blue city: a whitewashed coastal medina to set against Chefchaouen's indigo mountain one.
