Overview
A long but rewarding full-day private trip from Fes to Chefchaouen — about four hours each way — with a guided walk of the blue medina and free time before the drive back.
Chefchaouen lies about four hours north of Fes through olive country and the Rif foothills — a long day, but one many travellers are glad they made. We leave Fes early in a private vehicle, drive the scenic road via Ouazzane, and reach the Blue City around midday with the afternoon to explore.
A local guide walks you through the indigo medina — the kasbah square, the photogenic lanes, the wool souk — then you have free time for lunch and your own wandering before the return drive to Fes by evening. Because it's a long day, many clients prefer to do this one-way as part of a Fes-and-Chefchaouen overnight; we're happy to re-route. As a day trip it's entirely private and paced for comfort, with stops on the way.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
Is "Chefchaouen Day Trip from Fes" private or a group tour?
100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own driver-guide, vehicle and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.
Can I change the dates or itinerary?
Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Add the Akchour hike, swap a riad, change the start city — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.
How fit do I need to be?
Easy. Light walking on the blue medina's cobbled lanes, plus optional viewpoint climbs you can opt in or out of on the day.
When should I book a Chefchaouen tour?
For spring (Mar–May) and autumn (Sep–Oct), and any trip combining Tangier or Fes, book 4–8 weeks ahead. Last-minute (under 14 days) is usually still possible with a phone call.
How far is Chefchaouen from Fes?
About four hours each way (roughly 200km) via Ouazzane. It's a long day trip but a popular one. If your schedule allows, an overnight in Chefchaouen — or doing the leg one-way en route to Tangier — is more relaxed.
Is the Fes to Chefchaouen day trip too long?
It's a full day with around eight hours of driving in total, broken by comfort stops. Many travellers happily do it. For a gentler pace we suggest our Fes + Chefchaouen overnight itinerary instead.
